Its over guys. (Psst, new ideas, READ)

Looks as though our adventure is coming to an end. Lu will be no more in 3 months. D:

Hello Adventurers,

We are very sad to announce that LEGO Universe will be closing on Janurary 31, 2012. This was a very difficult decision to make, but unfortunately LEGO Universe has not been able to attract the number of members needed to keep the game open.

We are thankful to have had the opportunity to share this adventure wiith an amazing community of players. We hope you will continue to enjoy LEGO Universe for the last few months. As a thank you, if you are a paying subscriber on December 31, 2011, we will provide you the full game for the final month for free.

Again, we want to thank the fantastic community of players who made LEGO Universe such a vibrant, fun and creative experience.

The LEGO Universe Team

A more in-depth article from BrickJournal:

November 4, 2011 – The LEGO Group today announced that it will close LEGO® Universe, an MMOG (massively-multiplayer online game) that has been in operation since the autumn of 2010.

In spite of very positive player feedback and a large number of players in the free play zone, it has not been possible to convert a satisfactory number of players to paying subscribers. It has therefore been decided to close the game as of January 31, 2012.

“The LEGO Universe team can take pride in having developed and launched a great LEGO experience that many players will miss,” said Jesper Vilstrup, Vice President, LEGO Universe. “Right now, we have almost 2 million players in LEGO Universe, and we get extremely positive feedback from players. Unfortunately, we have not been able to build a satisfactory revenue model in our target group, and therefore, have decided to close the game.”

Despite the change, the ambition to develop and run a digital business remains. In future, it is the intention to further pursue cooperation with partners. The LEGO Group has a strong and continuing partnership with TT Games & Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to create digital LEGO experiences within video games. A further expansion in the digital area will mainly be based on similar partnerships.

“The development of our digital offerings continues to be a very important element in our strategy,” said Mads Nipper, Executive Vice President, LEGO Group. “We have more than 20 million visitors on every month, and LEGO video games are among the bestselling children’s video games with sales of more than 60 million units in the last five years. Through our experience developing and running LEGO Universe, we have gained a lot of valuable insights, and we have a very strong foundation for future development in the digital area.”

As a consequence of the closure, the LEGO Universe staff has today been informed that the ‘Play Well Studios’ in Louisville, Colorado and the game’s marketing function in Billund, Denmark will be closed. This will affect 115 employees. All affected employees will be offered assistance in finding new jobs inside or outside the LEGO Group.

Now, if LEGO will not way in their decision, I have a back up plan for all of us to stay a community:

All this talk of not keeping in touch got me thinking. What about Steam? Steam has a whole bunch of fun games we could all join as a group, like Portal, DC Universe, Minecraft(not an official steam game, but can be linked) and Team Fortress 2. Plus, we can all join a group, which I have made, called the LEGO Universe Refugees, where we can all get together and chat and play games, link here:

If you don’t know about/have steam, you can download it here:
You can join us at this link:
Or you can friend me, HuntheUniverse, on Steam and get in contact with me. Our group currently has a lot of members.

Join it! Its our community together again!

Prepare to Save Nimbus Plaza! (And Frostburgh’s Leave of Absence…)

UPDATE 2: New video has been released!
(Thanks Hobino)
Click here to watch it! (YouTube)

UPDATE: Robot City is officially coming out at the same time! FINALLY! 😀

Ah, Nimbus Plaza. A most beloved place for minifigures to
converse, trade, chat… but wait! It seems Nimbus Plaza is under
attack! No, not now – in the past!

You have probably heard
stories about the legendary battle of Nimbus Station. The conniving
Stromlings hid behind Minifigure cutouts in order to trap the brave
heroes of the Nexus Force. Soon, it will be your turn to defend
Nimbus Plaza and help preserve the present! On February 23, travel
back to a less friendly version of the Nimbus Station you know so
well. Fight 30 waves of fierce, Maelstrom-infected enemies. The
more of them you manage to smash, the harder it is going to get!
Ultimately, you will have to cross swords with the Four Riders of
the Maelstrom. Defeat them to save Nimbus Plaza! When the time
comes, scout out Nexus Force time traveler Wenn Wuzzit.

He will be looking
after the dizzying time-twister located in Nimbus Station near the
launch pad for Avant Gardens.

The Battle of Nimbus Station
is not a one-Minifigure sort of operation. The dangerous 4-player
battle instance will require tons of strategy, cooperation and
consumables if you want to make it through unsmashed! Prepare for
this battle instance by improving your teamwork in Crux Prime!
Undeterred by the battle, Dr. Overbuild continues to build Nexus
Tower and the new bank. While they are under construction, make
sure to kick some Maelstrom-infected butt in this new Nimbus
Station combat instance and turn the tide of battle! Polish your
skills, so you’ll be ready for the Battle of Nimbus Station weekend
contest in March. As the days change to weeks, Frostburgh moves
further and further away from Nimbus Station. Make sure to stash
enough snow balls to make it through the summer. Snowball fights in
the fiery pits of Caldera Mar can be very refreshing on a hot
summer’s day! On February 23, Frostburgh will be a frozen comet
once again, traveling far from the reach of your Minifigure
rockets. This weekend, however, you can participate in the
last Space
Blizzard race contest
of this season! Rev up your Choo
Choo Charger and race for glory and amazing Ninjago prizes! Check
back in a few days for information on the new Model Sets that will
be available with the Battle of Nimbus Station release.

All for now…

Teams Feature Detailed!

If you were in early/mid Beta, you might recall a button that would appear when interacting with another player. That button was the Teams button, but for the duration of Beta, it was disabled. Later on, it was completely removed, aside form certain instances.

When Crux Prime was announced, however, it was confirmed that the Teams Feature would be making a comeback, and now the feature has been detailed.

The amount of players you can add is a bit disappointing, but the rest is pretty cool.

Check out the official post:

“When the epic battle of Crux Prime begins on the 11th of February, it will be a very good idea to team up with your fellow Minifigures. The powerful Crux Prime enemies are freshly spawned from the Maelstrom cloud just off Crux Prime’s edge. Whether Sentinel, Assembly, Venture League or Paradox, everybody must work together to defeat the ominous Maelstrom and the bone-rattling Skeletons!
The best way to survive on Crux Prime is to form a team with the new Teams function! You can team up with your friends, or with other brave Minifigures you encounter on the battlefield. Start a Team by walking up to another Minifigure. Then press the Ctrl-button when you’re close enough and look for the ‘Invite to Team’ icon on the drop-down menu to the right. Click on it to send a team invitation. When the other player accepts, you’re teamed up. Each Team can include up to 4 players!

The Minifigure who starts the team becomes the team leader and gets to choose whether the team shares loot or if loot is free for all. When you share the loot you find, everyone on the team gets an equal part of the good stuff you collect, one at a time. When loot is set to free for all, you can help each other defeat enemies, doing missions and building bouncers, but you get to keep all the items you pick up yourself. Teams only last for one play session, or until you decide you don’t want to play in that team anymore.

In addition to using the Team function, you can also help other players on the battlefield simply by using your Imagination! Shield Generators have been located in strategic locations around Crux Prime, but they require 60 Imagination points to Quick Build. Obviously that is more Imagination than it is possible for a single Minifigure to acquire, so helping each other build them is the only option! Certain Quick Build bouncers will also require teamwork and masterful coordination!

And remember, there’s no I in Team, but there are three in Imagination!”

Hopefully this will include a way to stay on the same sub-servers as your teammates, but it remains possible that this will still be a problem, so don’t get your hopes up…

All for now…

Hey guys!

Well, guess what? It turns out that with the release of Crux Prime, we’ll get access to a new pet, new rockets – and the ALL NEW LARGE AVANT GARDENS PROPERTY!

Read the post below for the details!

Dear Builders of the Universe,

While the Skeletons on Crux Prime may seem quite fearsome at first, we’ve discovered that we can actually use the bones they leave behind!

First, seek out the wise Sensei Wu in the mysterious Monastery Ruins on Crux Prime. He will challenge you with a mission to find and tame a Skeleton Dragon Pet. It may look ugly, but it is especially helpful for digging up certain buried bones!

Mardolf the Orange, clever wizard that he is, has learned how to fashion these bones into wonderful and frightening creations!

How frightening, you ask? Well just imagine the screams when you land in Nimbus Station on a Starskull, Terror Comet or Morbid Orbit rocket! Or as you go tearing through Keelhaul Canyon in the Fright Speed race car! And if you really want to bone up on your building skills, seek out the terrifying Skeleton Model Set hidden throughout Crux Prime!

Finally, if you’re looking for a place to unleash these fresh new horrors, might I suggest the new, larger Avant Grove Property? It’s sized for those of you with big Imaginations – and the bricks to match! And who knows, maybe those blue skies and green grass might make a towering Skeleton Fortress actually seem livable!

The best way to overcome the Maelstrom menace and the Skeletons is to keep building and use your Imagination!

Dr. Overbuild,
Assembly Faction Leader.

Well no wonder they’ve been taking so long! XD

Crux Prime Release Date OFFICIALLY REVEALED!

Hey guys!

Well, the wait for an official release date of Crux Prime is now over! Thanks to Imaginatrix, we now know when it will be opening! And it’s not too far away, either!

Hi explorers,

The battle for Crux Prime begins on February 11th! Are you ready??

I certainly can’t wait! However, I must say it is a bit of a disappointment that we will have to wait so long. But hey – it gets here when it gets here, eh? 🙂
